Born in Wyckoff, New Jersey, Douglas Hoehn began a journey with a deep commitment to education and intellectual growth. His pursuit of knowledge started at Dakota Wesleyan University, where he completed his Bachelor's degree in 1970. This initial academic experience was not merely about acquiring knowledge but also where he developed crucial leadership skills, particularly during his tenure as student body president. His academic journey continued with a Master's in Speech Communication from the University of Maryland in 1972. Here, as a teaching graduate assistant, he deepened his understanding of effective teaching methodologies and student engagement. He then pursued a Ph.D. in Speech Communication at New York University, which he completed in 1979. This period was marked by significant personal and professional development. Serving as a teaching fellow, he refined his educational philosophies and teaching techniques, preparing him for a prominent role in education.

 

Additionally, Douglas B Hoehn's involvement as Vice President of the graduate student association at New York University provided him with valuable experience in educational policy and administration. Douglas Hoehn of Wyckoff NJ, found a litter of 4 kittens that had been dropped in his neighborhood on a cold night on February 7th and was able to rescue them, get them warm, and the next day place them with The Bergen Ramapo Rescue Association. Allen kittens are now available for adoption at the center in Oakland."
